Thierry Rabotin's vision
Thierry Rabotins journey began at a very early age when he would wear his rubber boots to go fishing and would often wish that they could be as comfortable as slippers.
He moved from the French country side to Paris in 1970 where he took a course at the prestigious school of ESMOND. This course launched him into the fashion world and ignited his passion for design and fashion specifically in women’s and children’s knitwear.
It was only when Thierry Rabotin attended a course in footwear-designing at AFPIC institute in 1977, to learn all about the construction and creation of footwear, that he finally realised where his true passion lay; Shoes!
Thierry Rabotin runs his business now along with two business partners; Karlheinz Schlecht and Giovanna Ceolini. His factory is based in Italy about 15 miles from Milan where age-old artisan shoemaking techniques are still used, but kept to a very high technical standard, without the use of modern machines.
Shoes that feel like Slippers!
To ensure you get the most comfortable feeling your feet could get, besides being in slippers, Thierry Rabotin uses soft, premium-quality leathers, for every pair of shoes which are carefully matched and then joined using a method called ‘sacchetto’. This construction method guarantees the shoe will mould to your foot to make it feel like it fits like a glove.
Using this method makes some heavy components used in other footwear manufacturers, such as insole and shankpiece superfluous and therefore gives the shoes its renowned lightweight, flexible properties.
To further aid comfort the shoe is lined with handpicked, full grain nappa lining and no metal components are used. Inside the shoe poron memory foam is used which makes the padding more resilient but also reduces pressure and aids the shoe to form to your foot. However, due to the absence of an insole you will never see a Thierry Rabotin high heel.
In addition any shoes hand made in Italy are personally signed by Thierry Rabotin personally, as a mark of quality.
